You’d be a fit if…

You’ve held Senior Software Engineer positions before and have at least 4-5 years of experience. You have exceptional technical skills, want to build some leadership capabilities and have a track record of successfully delivering complex engineering solutions.

You enjoy coding and leading by example, proactively making decisions, and building solutions.

You can skillfully collaborate with product and growth teams to support dynamic product development and rapid growth at early-stage SaaS companies.

You understand and empathize with our customers. You proactively watch user sessions, understand the product and design side of things, and truly get what we solve for with every feature.

You should not apply if

1. You don’t have at least three years of experience working at one single company. Without this, you don’t see the consequences of your decisions.
2. You can’t work hard. We’re a self-funded company from India up against billion-dollar VC-backed companies. We have to work harder. If you want to shy away from that or have other constraints that don’t allow you to work 10-12 hours a day, six days a week, you shouldn’t apply.
3. You don’t have an eye for quality. Our primary market is the US, and it’s unforgiving. We care about shipping quality software that works.
4. You’re not product & customer-obsessed. If you only care about the core technology without having the curiosity to understand the market and customers, you likely won’t make it at SARAL.

Responsibilities 

As our Senior Software Engineer, you will build best-in-class features.You will report directly to the founder and work with leadership to create a long-term technical vision for SARAL.

1. Own Foundational Features: You would be responsible for shipping major features that have impact on customers. You will individually contribute and work with the team to reliably ship full features to customers.
2. Technical Leadership: While this is not a managerial role, you would be the most experienced engineer on the team so far. You will use your prior experience to help the team "see around corners", anticipating risks and future hurdles and proactively implementing solutions to ensure smooth product function.
3. Review and Debug Code: You will review code and help debug bugs. At SARAL, every engineer does 1 day of tech support work each week to stay close to customers and experience problems first-hand.
4. Improve Performance and Reliability: Part of your work would involve optimizing older code to improve performance and make SARAL more reliable for our customers.

Requirements

1. You have an extensive background in software engineering with at least 5 years of experience in a software engineer role (or equivalent) role at an early-stage SaaS company.
2. You have a proven technical pedigree for building and scaling complex architectures and ecosystems for high-growth companies.
3. Solid Typescript, and NodeJS skills (MERN primarily)
4. You have clear architectural skills around memory management, security, event management, distributed systems, and other key architectural concepts.
5. Significant experience in designing, developing, and maintaining RESTful APIs
6. Experience with Amazon Web Services including , EC2, S3, Lambda, and SQS
7. Experience with CI/CD and DevOps
8. Familiarity with AI systems and a basic understanding of how training models works would be helpful in this role.
