Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities of the Role
Core SAP Security Responsibilities
Resolve SAP security and authorization issues across ECC, S/4HANA, BW, and Fiori environments.
Deliver security enhancements aligned with business requirements.
Collaborate with business users to gather requirements, perform analysis, and design effective solutions.
Support SAP GRC processes, including Access Risk Analysis (ARA), Access Request Management (ARM), and Business Role Management (BRM).
Prepare and manage SOX reports, and respond to internal and external audit queries.
Support system upgrades, transformations, and post-go-live activities.
Ensure compliance with control objectives and regulatory standards.
Product Innovation Responsibilities
Identify recurring or systemic SAP security challenges and design scalable solutions or tools to address them.
Build or contribute to automation dashboards and analytical solutions using technologies such as Python, APIs, or data platforms such as HANA data lakes.
Leverage SAP data, including GRC usage logs and role information, to generate actionable insights for business and security teams.
Contribute to the development of accelerators, reusable frameworks, and internal products that improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
Explore and integrate emerging technologies such as AI/ML, SAP BTP, and IAG to strengthen security operations.
Collaborate across teams to drive continuous improvement and innovation in SAP Security delivery.
Skills and Experience
Essential
Strong expertise in SAP Security across ECC, BI/BW, GRC, S/4HANA, and Fiori.
Good understanding of foundational security concepts across key business processes such as FI, CO, MM, and SD.
Strong knowledge of SAP role design and Segregation of Duties (SoD).
Deep understanding of Fiori authorization concepts, UI/UX aspects, and SAP Security for spaces, pages, and app support.
Experience designing roles for both hub and embedded S/4HANA deployments.
Hands-on experience configuring GRC Access Control modules, including ARA, ARM, and BRM.
Hands-on experience creating, operating, and maintaining SoD rulesets.
Experience supporting SAP security activities during system upgrades and transformation programs.
Strong understanding of SAP module integration across end-to-end business processes.
Ability to understand business requirements, prepare functional specifications, define test scenarios including security design, support testing phases, perform cutover activities, and provide post-go-live support.
Strong troubleshooting skills for authorization issues across ECC, S/4HANA, Fiori, and HANA DB.
Understanding of ITIL processes and Activate methodology.
Proactive problem-solving approach.
Ability to work effectively in large and diverse teams.
Excellent spoken and written English communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to work in shifts and from the office premises.
Product and Technical Mindset
Ability to think beyond ticket-based support and identify patterns, inefficiencies, and automation opportunities.
Experience or strong interest in building tools, scripts, or solutions using technologies such as Python, APIs, or data analytics.
Familiarity with data extraction, analysis, and visualization from SAP or related systems.
Demonstrated mindset of building once and scaling many times.
Curiosity and willingness to explore new technologies and approaches.
Desirable
SAP S/4HANA certification.
Exposure to SAP BTP, SAP Analytics Cloud, and SAP IAG.
Experience in SOX report automation or audit analytics.
Exposure to Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA.
Experience with SAP Solution Manager and testing tools.
Basic understanding of AI/ML concepts or data-driven decision-making.
