We are seeking an experienced SAP Master Data Specialist to provide critical operational backfill for our Master Data team during a major SAP S/4HANA migration project. In this role, you will own the day-to-day creation, modification, and governance of Material Master data, ensuring business continuity. A significant portion of this role involves supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) testing and managing complex Variant Configuration (VC) modifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute end-to-end creation, maintenance, and modification of SAP Material Master data within our legacy ECC 6.0 environment (and transitioning to the S/4HANA environment).
- Support the New Product Introduction (NPI) process by setting up, validating, and testing material master records during simulation and testing phases.
- Maintain and modify SAP Variant Configuration (VC) data, including characteristics, classes, configuration profiles, and basic object dependencies.
- Collaborate closely with engineering, PLM teams, and the S/4HANA migration project team to ensure data consistency.
- Perform data quality audits and data cleansing activities as directed by the Master Data Lead.
- Act as a functional bridge between Engineering/R&D and SAP, translating technical product specifications into accurate SAP Material Master and Variant Configuration structures autonomously.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience managing SAP Material Master (MM) data in an ECC 6.0 or S/4HANA environment.
- Strong practical understanding of SAP Variant Configuration (VC) mechanics.
- Experience supporting master data setups during product testing, engineering changes, or R&D phases.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills; ability to identify, root cause, and resolve data discrepancies or VC validation errors during product testing without close supervision.
- Familiarity with PLM-to-ERP data flows (experience with Windchill PLM is a major plus).
- Extremely detail-oriented with an understanding of how Material Master data impacts downstream supply chain, sales, and manufacturing modules.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with a proven track record of working effectively in 100% remote, cross-functional, and matrixed global teams.
