SAP TM Technical Developer with ABAP Expertise
Experience
5-8 years of experience in SAP TM (Transportation Management) with strong ABAP development skills. Must have hands-on experience in SAP TM implementations, support, or enhancement projects as a Technical Developer.
Main Responsibilities
SAP TM Technical Development (Priority)
1. Design, develop, and maintain technical enhancements in SAP TM (Transportation Management) on S/4HANA platform, including custom BAdIs, user exits, and custom function modules specific to TM processes
2. Develop and enhance TM-specific functionalities including freight order management, transportation planning, carrier selection, route determination, freight settlement, and integration with SAP EWM/ERP
3. Build custom ABAP reports, interfaces (IDocs, RFCs, Web Services), conversions, enhancements, forms, and workflows (RICEF objects) specific to TM module requirements
4. Develop and configure TM PPF (Post Processing Framework) actions, event management, output determination, and condition techniques for transportation documents
5. Perform technical customization and development for TM master data (business partners, locations, transportation zones, routes, means of transport, resources) and transactional data structures
ABAP Development & Performance Optimization (Priority)
6. Perform advanced ABAP developments including object-oriented programming (OOP), ABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP), CDS views, AMDP, and Fiori/UI5 integrations for TM applications
7. Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in TM processes through SQL trace analysis, runtime analysis, code optimization, database tuning, and implementation of performance-enhancing measures
8. Design and maintain advanced CDS views, OData services, and Fiori Elements applications for TM analytical and transactional requirements on S/4HANA
Integration & Technical Support
9. Develop and maintain integrations between SAP TM and external systems (third-party logistics providers, carrier systems, ERP, EWM) using IDocs, RFCs, Web Services, EDI, and SAP PI/PO/CPI
10. Provide 2nd/3rd level production support for TM technical issues, participate in root cause analysis (RCA), and ensure development issues do not re-occur through proper documentation and knowledge transfer
11. Follow the ChaRM (Change and Release Management) process to ensure all developments, transports, and changes adhere to company guidelines and SAP best practices
12. Participate in unit, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT) for TM developments to ensure high-quality deliverables meeting functional and technical specifications
13. Maintain comprehensive technical documentation for all TM designs, ABAP programs, configurations, integration scenarios, and change logs
14. Where required, communicate with SAP and third-party vendors to resolve technical issues, raise and resolve OSS incidents, and obtain technical guidance
15. Collaborate with SAP Functional Consultants (TM, SD, MM, EWM), SAP Basis team, SAP Authorization team, and other IT teams to ensure timely delivery of development objects and seamless TM operations
Must Have Skills
Priority Technical Skills:
1. SAP TM (Transportation Management) on S/4HANA - Mandatory hands-on technical experience with TM module architecture, freight order processing, planning, execution, and settlement
2. SAP ABAP Development - Advanced proficiency in ABAP programming including ABAP OOP, ABAP on HANA, CDS views, AMDP, BOPF framework, and RAP (RESTful ABAP Programming)
4. TM Enhancement Framework - Experience with TM BAdIs, PPF (Post Processing Framework), event management, and TM-specific enhancement spots
5. SAP Fiori/UI5 - Experience developing Fiori applications and OData services for TM on S/4HANA platform
6. Integration Technologies - Hands-on experience with IDocs, RFCs, Web Services (SOAP/REST), EDI, and SAP integration platforms (PI/PO/CPI) for TM integrations
Good to Have Skills (Based on Experience):
7. SAP EWM (Extended Warehouse Management) - Integration knowledge between TM and EWM modules
8. SAP SD/LE (Sales & Distribution / Logistics Execution) - Understanding of order-to-cash processes and integration with TM
9. Web Dynpro for ABAP - Development experience
10. SAP BTP (Business Technology Platform) - Experience with SAP BTP services, CAP model, or cloud integrations
11. Adobe Forms / Smart Forms - TM document output development experience
12. SAP GTS (Global Trade Services) - Integration knowledge with TM for compliance scenarios
13. Written and oral proficiency in English language - Mandatory for all levels
