Job Description,
Responsible for the configuration and maintenance of core master data objects in the Retail
Environment:
Articles (Materials) – including article hierarchies and merchandise categories.
Brands and Seasons – definition and alignment with commercial planning.
Merchandise Hierarchies (Taxonomy) – structuring for reporting and assortment
management.
Article Commercial Data – sales, purchasing, and logistics views.
Merchandise Groups and Characteristic Profiles – definition of attributes and feature
profiles supporting variant management and reporting.
Ensure proper integration between SD, MM, and Retail master data layers for pricing,
procurement, and POS integration.
Assortment and Catalog Management
Manage the master data flow from S/4HANA to stores, following the specific business
objectives of each store.
Maintain and control the assortment list object used in the cataloging process.
Support catalog creation workflows and data validation aligned with store-level product
strategies.
Procurement and Purchasing
Maintain close alignment between purchasing master data (info records, source lists,
and vendor data) and article master data.
Support configuration and management of commercial agreements and purchasing info
records.
Oversee Purchase Order (PO) management:
Allocation rules based on seasonality and distribution strategy.
Definition of push and pull allocation strategies:
Push Strategy: Central procurement pushes stock to stores based on predefined
allocation tables.
Pull Strategy: Store replenishment requests trigger POs based on store needs.
Provide guidance on PO distribution logic and table-based store assignments in
alignment with the merchandising strategy.
Sales Prices and Promotions
Define and control sales price determination:
Based on purchase price + applied markup percentage, including discounts and
promotional conditions.
Utilize special pricing schemas for retail pricing procedures.
Maintain Price Change Documents and control approval workflows.
Support configuration of promotional campaigns and commercial strategies using SAP
Promotion Management for Retail (PMR) or equivalent module.
Integrate pricing conditions with sales and POS systems for real-time synchronization.
Integration with POS (Point of Sale)
Oversee and validate S/4HANA to POS data flows:
Outbound (IDocs) – master data replication (articles, prices, assortments).
Inbound – sales and inventory data import from POS to S/4HANA.
Define integration architecture and interface strategy:
Specify whether POS sends aggregated daily summaries (TLOG) or transaction-level
data (ticket-by-ticket).
Handle non-traditional SAP flows for inventory and billing updates (outside
standard Order–Delivery–Billing cycles).
Ensure consistency of data between POS systems and S/4 Retail environment.
Finance Integration (Retail-Specific)
Understand store-level financial reporting and how store transactions flow to General
Ledger.
Manage and reconcile Sales reports, Store Ledger, and Store Accounting flows.
Integration points between CAR (Customer Activity Repository), POS, and S/4HANA
Finance.
Ensure that store acts as an intermediary entity (not an accounting owner).
Monitor and validate payment channel postings (e.g., cash, credit card).
Guarantee all financial and transactional data are properly transferred from CAR to S/4.
CAR (Customer Activity Repository) Functional Scope
Validate whether the implementation includes Post-DTA module only or additional CAR
components (e.g., POS DTA, UDF, OAA).
Identify CAR system architecture (standalone vs. integrated, on-premise vs. cloud).
Support integration design and troubleshooting between CAR, POS, and S/4HANA.
Ensure the CAR landscape supports real-time retail insights and omnichannel processes.
Additional Responsibilities
Collaborate with business stakeholders to ensure SAP Retail processes align with
merchandising, pricing, and allocation strategies.
Participate in testing cycles (UAT, Integration Testing) ensuring end-to-end data flow
consistency.
Document functional designs and prepare training materials for end users and key
users.
Provide expertise on SAP Retail best practices, S/4HANA Retail, and CAR integration
