Job Description: SAP Business Object Developer
Role Overview
BusinessObjects Reporting
- Design and maintain Crystal Reports with complex formatting, sub‑reports, formulas, and drill‑down functionality.
- Develop Web Intelligence (WebI) reports, including ad‑hoc and interactive dashboards using multiple data providers, variables, merge dimensions, and prompts.
- Build and optimize universes using Information Design Tool (IDT), managing joins, cardinalities, hierarchies, and performance.
- Deliver professional, presentation‑ready reports and dashboards aligned to business needs.
SQL & Data Handling
- Write, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries for reporting and analysis.
- Implement advanced joins, subqueries, CTEs (including recursive), aggregations, CASE logic, and data transformations.
- Perform query performance tuning, execution plan analysis, and optimization of joins and indexes.
- Support data shaping, pivoting, and cleansing for reporting accuracy.
Data Integration, Governance & Support
- Work with databases such as Oracle, DB2, SQL Server (cloud DB exposure is a plus).
- Support ETL and scheduling tools (e.g., Informatica, SAP Data Services, AutoSys, StoneBranch – exposure preferred).
- Apply security and governance standards, including version control, row/object/report‑level security, and promotion management.
- Assist with BO administration, report scheduling, and deployment activities.
- Support reporting solutions across the SDLC, from requirements to production support.
Analytical & Professional Skills
- Strong requirement analysis and ability to translate business needs into reporting solutions.
- Effective problem‑solving and troubleshooting for data quality and performance issues.
- High attention to detail in report logic, data mapping, and universe design.
- Ability to present insights clearly and format reports for business consumption.
Preferred Experience & Attributes
Clear and effective communication with business and technical stakeholders.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
Adaptable and quick to learn new tools and technologies.
Experience with data visualization, dashboards, and scorecards in BO.
Exposure to scripting or automation (Python, BO SDK/JDK) is a plus.
Prior involvement in BO administration, upgrades, or migration initiatives is advantageous.
