Job Title: SAP BDC Senior Consultant
Location : India (Delhi, Noida, Mumbai, Pune)
Role summary
We are hiring an SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) Consultant to design and deliver BDC and Datasphere solutions from our offshore delivery centre, working alongside onshore architects and client teams.
Working model: Offshore, with overlap to UK and client time zones
Experience: 5+ years in SAP BW/4HANA and/or SAP HANA Cloud
About the role
Invenio Business Solutions is an SAP Silver Partner with UK, Middle East and India entities. Our Data, AI and Innovation practice helps clients move from established SAP BW estates to SAP Business Data Cloud, Datasphere and SAP Analytics Cloud.
Many of our clients run BW/4HANA today and are assessing how to modernise onto BDC. You will turn that into working solutions: migrating and remodelling BW content, building Datasphere models, and integrating with SAP and non-SAP sources on BTP.
Key responsibilities
- Design and build data models in SAP Datasphere within an SAP Business Data Cloud landscape, including spaces, local and remote tables, views, analytic models and data access controls.
- Assess existing SAP BW/4HANA (and BW on HANA) estates and plan migration or coexistence paths into BDC, including use of the BW Data Product Generator and BW PCE where appropriate.
- Configure and consume SAP-managed data products in BDC, and help design customer-managed data products.
- Build data integration flows from S/4HANA, ECC and non-SAP sources using replication flows, data flows, transformation flows and task chains.
- Develop and optimise SQL and SQLScript logic in SAP HANA Cloud and Datasphere, with attention to performance and cost.
- Work with SAP BTP services (subaccounts, connectivity, Cloud Connector, security and role setup) to support integration and deployment.
- Support SAP Analytics Cloud consumption, including live connections and model design for reporting and planning.
- Produce technical designs, build documentation, test scripts and handover material to Invenio standards.
- Take part in estimation, sprint planning and daily coordination with onshore teams and client stakeholders.
- Contribute to reusable accelerators, templates and internal knowledge sharing across the practice.
Essential experience and skills
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience with SAP BW/4HANA and/or SAP HANA Cloud, across modelling, extraction and performance tuning.
- Strong BW/4HANA modelling: ADSOs, CompositeProviders, Open ODS views, transformations, DTPs and process chains.
- Solid SQL and SQLScript skills, including calculation views and HANA native modelling.
- Working knowledge of SAP Datasphere: spaces, data builder, business builder, replication and transformation flows.
- A good grasp of SAP BTP: account model, connectivity and Cloud Connector, security and roles, and how BTP services underpin BDC and Datasphere.
- Experience extracting data from S/4HANA or ECC, including CDS views and ODP-based extraction.
- At least one full-lifecycle SAP data warehousing implementation.
- Clear written and spoken English, and confidence working directly with onshore and client teams.
Desirable experience.
BDC is a recent SAP offering, so we recognise that few candidates will have several BDC projects behind them. Delivery on at least one BDC project with Datasphere is a must.
- Delivery on at least one SAP Business Data Cloud project that included SAP Datasphere, ideally covering data products and BW migration or coexistence.
- Experience with BW Data Product Generator, BW Private Cloud Edition or BW bridge.
- SAP Analytics Cloud modelling for reporting and planning.
- Exposure to SAP Databricks within BDC, or to Databricks, Snowflake or Google BigQuery alongside SAP data.
- Familiarity with data governance, lineage and cataloguing in Datasphere.
- Awareness of how BDC data products support AI and analytics use cases, such as SAP Joule and SAP AI Core.
- Experience in agile delivery and with tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Offshore working model and personal attributes
- This role is based offshore and works with onshore leads and clients, mainly in the UK, Europe and the Middle East.
- Flexibility to overlap with UK working hours for key meetings and handovers.
- Ownership of offshore build tasks from design sign-off through to unit testing and handover.
- Proactive, clear status updates, raising risks and blockers early rather than waiting to be asked.
- Comfortable working from written specifications and asking good questions where they are incomplete.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for project workshops or go-live support.
- Curiosity about SAP's evolving data and AI roadmap, and a willingness to learn new BDC capabilities as they are released.
