This role partners closely with Legal, Records Retention, Audit, Infrastructure, and SAP Functional teams, and provides guidance to junior archiving resources.
Key Responsibilities
Own and evolve the enterprise SAP data archiving and ILM strategy (ECC and S/4HANA, including RISE environments)
Design and govern data lifecycle policies (residence vs. retention) in collaboration with Legal and Corporate Records teams
Lead configuration and execution of SAP archiving objects (FI, CO, MM, SD, HR, Logistics, Technical objects)
Ensure archiving completeness (archive + delete) and prevent data growth regression
Monitor, tune, and optimize archiving jobs for performance, reliability, and throughput
Partner with Basis, Infrastructure, and HANA teams to reduce database growth and improve system stability
Provide oversight for archived data accessibility (ADK/ArchiveLink/OpenText, reporting, audit access)
Support audit, SOX, and compliance requirements related to data retention and destruction
Define KPIs and dashboards for data growth, archiving effectiveness, and compliance status
Guide and mentor P2 resources; act as functional lead for data archiving workstream
Ensure new SAP projects include data lifecycle and archiving considerations as part of design and go-live readiness
Required Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on experience with SAP Data Archiving and Data Volume Management
Solid understanding of SAP ILM concepts (Retention, Legal Hold, Data Destruction)
Experience with S/4HANA data models (e.g., ACDOCA, MATDOC) and archiving implications
Knowledge of archive storage solutions (SAP Content Server, OpenText, ArchiveLink)
OpenText experience managing unstructured content and documents (capture, indexing/metadata, storage, retention, and retrieval) supporting SAP business processes
Hands-on configuration for OpenText repositories integrated with SAP (repository setup, ArchiveLink content repositories, connection parameters, storage locations, and access testing)
Understanding of OpenText Archive Center concepts and operations (archive stores, cache, ILM/retention alignment, monitoring, and troubleshooting content access)
Ability to work across global teams and influence without direct authority
Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders
Recommended Background
Prior experience as SAP Basis / Platform Engineer, DVM consultant, or Archiving SME
Experience supporting audit, SOX, and regulatory compliance initiatives
