Position Description:
Assist senior analysts in the development of analyses, preparation of financial and other reports, development and maintenance of basic-level computer models/code, rendering of bills, and administration of contracts. Generally, the work performed by this position can only be accomplished in an efficient and timely manner through the effective use of information systems. Must be able to communicate ideas, concepts, and technical information effectively, sharing in an open and direct manner to help others make informed decisions.
Essential Job Tasks:
- Seeks to have an understanding of the content of the Authority's most current financial statements, operating statement, and annual report including the principles of demand, energy, customer power factor, plant load factor, and transformation gains/losses.
- Performs straightforward calculations and analyses and/or assists with the actions necessary to produce a minimum of 4 financial forecasts per year. These forecasts contain 10-year projections based on actual and projected data and current and future business methodologies received from Authority's stakeholders. This employee is responsible for and/or assists other analysts with ensuring that all calculations in the model and other supporting spreadsheets use the appropriate accounting treatment for both current and future business methodologies, that the data and processes align with the overall forecast assumptions, and that the data and information received is used in forecast model as intended by its respective provider.
- Assists the other analysts as they are preparing to make necessary changes to the financial forecast computer model by researching and documenting information, making routine changes, and any other assignment as directed by senior analysts. Once the model revision is finished, this employee studies the model revision documentation for understanding of the change and the reason for the change.
- Under guidance of Sr. Analysts ensures that all information necessary for upcoming forecast is requested and received from stakeholders, is compared to info used in most recent forecast giving consideration to differences that may be due to changes in forecast assumptions, ensures information is coded, ensures all updated information is appropriately put into forecast model, and ensures that information is filed such that a clear trail to all supporting documentation exists. This employee assists with ensuring that this information is readily accessible in accordance with the time period stated in the corporate retention schedule and that the appropriate files are moved annually into the Electronic Content Management System (ECM).
- Assists with the interpretation and administration of the contractual aspects of the Authority's customers to ensure that the contract principles are appropriately reflected in the Financial Forecast. These contracts include the Alabama Municipal Energy Authority (AMEA), Central Coordination Agreement, Piedmont Municipal Power Authority (PMPA), SCE&G (Navy), and other wholesale and retail power contracts.
- Develops and/or assists with the actions necessary to develop rates and other information for others on a regular basis using the appropriate calculation methodologies. These items currently include AMEA's Annual Rates and Charges, Central's Annual Projected Rates and Charges, Navy's Annual Rates and Charges, PMPA's Annual Projected Rates and Charges, annual transformer carrying charge, annual wheeling rate, and monthly debt service coverage.
- Performs or assists with the performance of straightforward special request scenarios and special request calculations that may include, but are not limited to, items such as debt service, revenue requirements, and nuclear cost and/or delay scenarios.
- May assist with the development of the Authority's Generation Resource Plan and the analysis of the risk associated with each of the Resource Plan’s potential solutions.
- Performs or assists with other routine special tasks and assignments as requested.

- Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Math, Data Analytics or related field + 2 years experience required.
Compensation Information:
$67,720 -$84,640 (min. - mid.)
Financial Analyst III
- Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Business Administration, Finance, Math, Data Analytics or related field + 5 years experience required.
