Essential Functions:
- Assists with fitting patients for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) as directed by provider.
- Provide patient education regarding use of the appropriate DME.
- Provide troubleshooting services to patients who have questions regarding their prescribed DME products.
- Obtains vendor information and quotes for equipment
- Responsible for managing appropriate DME inventory levels.
- Insure that all necessary documentation and authorization is obtained as it relates to payer requirements.
- Communicates with patients/families and the clinical team to promote positive working relationships.
- Maintains work area and personal appearance
- Observe safety rules, and ensures and maintains a safe and orderly environment.
- Create or update records with new files and information
- Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor
- Assists to meet objectives of the department to maintain and improve the quality of service provided.
- Performs other duties as required
Requirements
- six (6) months previous clerical and customer service experience
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Medical Assistant certificate or greater, preferred
