The Role

The Porter is responsible for cleaning assigned areas of the facility and ensuring that the physical plant is maintained in proper sanitary condition. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Samaritan Daytop Village.

Responsibilities

What You Will Do

  • Cleans assigned areas of the facility according to instructions on a daily basis.
  • Dust furniture and shelves using feather dusters, clean dry rags, dust treatment liquid, and dust mops with heads that can be laundered.
  • Sweeps areas inside and outside of the facility using an indoor push broom and #12 Corn Broom (outside). Ensures that all debris is collected and placed into plastic trash bags.
  • Scrubs and spot clean vinyl tile floors in the facility, being careful not to remove the wax finish.
  • Spot cleans facility carpets and upholstery.
  • Damp mops and wet-mop floors, including stairs, ensuring that mops and mop pails are clean before using them.
  • Disinfects shower walls, bathtubs, basins, vanities, and bathroom floors.
  • Disinfect commodes and urinals while strictly adhering to mandatory codes of dress (rubber gloves, etc.) and using prescribed cleaners and disinfectants only.

Qualifications

Who You Will Be

  • Someone with six (6) months of custodial-related work experience.
  • Ability to adhere to safety guidelines for working with cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Working knowledge of cleaning procedures and techniques.
  • Computer literacy including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
