As a Software Engineer in the Big Data Engineering team, you will play a key role in building and maintaining a modern, cloud-based platform that processes massive volumes of data. Salesforce generates enormous amounts of data every single day, and the Software Engineer team ensures that this data is stored, managed, and analyzed efficiently. The UIP platform integrates modern technologies such as Spark, Trino, Airflow, DBT, Kubernetes, Iceberg, and Open Metadata, enabling machine learning and AI-driven use cases. This role allows you to contribute to building data pipelines, scalable solutions, and cloud-native applications. Key Responsibilities of a Software Engineer Design, architect, and develop mission-critical data services. Lead the development of self-service, metadata-driven data pipelines. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers and client-facing teams. Implement CI/CD processes for cloud deployments (AWS, GCP). Ensure data governance, quality, and security from the ground up. Manage and optimize big data technologies like Airflow, Spark, Trino, Iceberg, Kubernetes. Provide automation, monitoring, and alerting to minimize operational overhead. Skills & Competencies Required To succeed as a Software Engineer, candidates should bring strong problem-solving abilities and a deep interest in big data and distributed systems. Some key skills include: Strong foundation in software engineering principles. Experience with big data platforms and distributed systems. Ability to code in multiple programming languages. Knowledge of cloud environments such as AWS or GCP. Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Education & Experience A graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field. 0–7 years of experience in software engineering, big data, or cloud development.
