About the Role
Mode Retails Sales & Marketing Pvt. Ltd. is looking for a dynamic and result-oriented Sales Manager – General Trade & Modern Trade to drive channel expansion, revenue growth, market penetration, and retail business development across assigned territories.
The candidate will be responsible for handling distributor networks, retail expansion, key modern trade accounts, secondary sales growth, visibility execution, and achievement of business targets through structured sales planning and execution.
The role requires a strong understanding of FMCG sales operations, retail dynamics, distributor management, and key account handling with a strong focus on closures and revenue generation.
Key Responsibilities1. General Trade (GT) Sales Management
- Appoint and manage distributors, dealers, and retail partners across assigned territories
- Drive primary and secondary sales growth
- Ensure product availability and market coverage
- Develop retailer relationships and increase outlet penetration
- Execute trade schemes, retailer engagement activities, and sales promotions
- Monitor distributor stock levels, claims, and payment cycles
- Conduct regular market visits to analyze competition and market opportunities
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets
2. Modern Trade (MT) Sales Management
- Handle key modern trade accounts, retail chains, supermarkets, and organized retail outlets
- Manage listing, onboarding, and range placement with category buyers
- Negotiate commercial agreements, margins, visibility, and promotional activities
- Ensure proper shelf placement, branding visibility, and merchandising execution
- Coordinate with store operations teams for stock replenishment and sales tracking
- Monitor sell-through performance and store-wise business growth
- Build strong relationships with category managers and procurement teams
3. Business Development & Revenue Growth
- Identify new market opportunities and expand sales channels
- Generate new business leads and close large-value retail opportunities
- Drive institutional and bulk sales opportunities wherever applicable
- Develop territory-wise sales growth strategies
- Ensure achievement of revenue, collection, and profitability targets
4. Team Coordination & Reporting
- Coordinate with marketing, supply chain, finance, and operations teams
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS reports
- Analyze sales trends, target achievement, and market performance
- Maintain discipline in reporting, forecasting, and sales planning
- Support management in sales reviews and business planning activities
Experience Required
- Minimum 5–10 years of relevant sales experience
- Minimum 3–5 years in handling General Trade and/or Modern Trade independently
- Experience in FMCG, retail, lifestyle, wellness, gifting, incense, personal care, or allied industries preferred
- Proven experience in distributor handling and key account management
- Strong exposure to retail sales operations and market expansion
Educational Qualification
- Graduate in any discipline
- MBA / PGDM in Sales & Marketing preferred
