About the Role
The Good Shelf is looking for a Sales Executive who thrives in a startup environment — someone who takes ownership, thinks on their feet, and isn't fazed by a "no." You'll be on the ground every day, walking into pharmacies, convenience stores, wellness outlets, and supermarts across Bengaluru, turning retailers into long-term partners. This isn't a scripted, order-taking role — you'll need to read the room, adapt your pitch on the spot, and figure out why a conversation didn't land, then go back and win it.
If you love the chaos of building something from scratch, enjoy selling almost anything to anyone, and get a kick out of solving problems no one's handed you a playbook for — this is your role.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the full retailer lifecycle — identify, pitch, onboard, and grow relationships across pharmacy, convenience, wellness, and supermart formats
- Sell with conviction: clearly and persuasively communicate our product range in a way that gets store owners to say yes
- Diagnose why a pitch or relationship isn't working, adapt your approach, and turn cold or failed conversations into active accounts
- Investigate and root-cause why a product isn't selling at a given store — is it visibility, pricing, placement, retailer push, or customer demand — and fix what's fixable on the ground
- Understand why in-store promotions are underperforming and work with retailers to reposition, re-pitch, or relaunch them for better traction
- Study why competitor products are outselling ours at specific outlets — shelf placement, pricing, retailer incentives, or customer preference — and bring back sharp, actionable insight
- Think like a brand, not just a salesperson: understand the retail box from the brand's point of view — how shelf space, visibility, pricing, and retailer relationships all feed into whether a product actually moves
- Collect and coordinate order fulfillment, working the details so retailers get what they need, when they need it
- Troubleshoot retailer problems in real time — solve what you can on the spot, and know when and how to escalate
- Track and report visits, orders, and retailer feedback using digital tools, keeping data clean and useful for the team
- Spot patterns and inefficiencies in your own beat and suggest better ways of working — we want people who improve the system, not just follow it
What We're Looking For
- Startup mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, fast pace, and figuring things out without a manual
- Sales instinct: genuinely enjoys selling and can hold a persuasive conversation with anyone — a retailer, a skeptic, or a stranger
- Analytical thinker: doesn't just report that sales are low — digs into why, and comes back with a fix, not just a problem
- Tech-savvy: comfortable with Excel, and digital reporting tools; picks up new tools quickly
- Communicator: fluent in Hindi and English (Kannada strongly preferred for on-ground retail conversations in Bengaluru)
- On the ground: comfortable with daily travel across the city; two-wheeler with a valid license preferred
What We Offer
- Competitive salary + performance-based incentives (Budget - 30k to 50k per month)
- Travel allowance
- Real ownership from day one, with growth opportunities as we scale
