The Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic, technical, and customer-focused Sales Engineer to be a key driver of our growth in the Indian market. You will be the technical champion for OpenIAM’s solutions, partnering closely with our sales team & partners to understand complex customer requirements, architect compelling solutions, and demonstrate tangible business value. This role is critical in bridging the gap between technical capabilities and business outcomes for our prospects and customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Pre-Sales: Partner with Account Executives to lead the technical sales cycle from discovery and requirement analysis to proof-of-concept (POC), solution design, and technical closure.
- Solution Demonstration & Storytelling: Deliver compelling, customized demonstrations of the OpenIAM platform that address specific customer pain points, use cases, and security/compliance requirements (e.g., IGA, SSO, MFA, IGA, PIM/PAM)
- Architecture & Scoping: Develop technical proposals, architecture diagrams, and solution design documents. Accurately scope POC and implementation requirements.
- Proof-of-Concept (POC) Execution: Plan, manage, and execute successful POCs/Pilots onsite or remotely, effectively handling technical objections and proving OpenIAM's value.
- RFPs and Tenders: Should have an experience in answering the RFPs/Tenders, attending pre-bid meetings and play a consultant’s part while the customers are in the process of creating an RFP.
- Trusted Technical Advisor: Build credibility and trusted relationships with technical and security stakeholders (CISOs, IT Architects, Infrastructure Heads, DevOps teams) across mid-market and large enterprises.
- Market & Competitive Intelligence: Maintain deep knowledge of the IAM/IGA landscape, competitor solutions, and industry trends in the Indian market. Effectively articulate OpenIAM’s differentiation.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Professional Services teams to relay customer feedback and ensure smooth handover post-sale.
- Content & Enablement: Contribute to the development of technical sales collateral, presentations, and best practice guides tailored for the regional audience.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a pre-sales/sales engineering role, preferably within the cybersecurity, identity management, enterprise software, or cloud services domain.
- Strong understanding of Identity & Access Management concepts: IGA, SSO, MFA, LDAP, RBAC/ABAC, Directory Services, Provisioning, and Identity Federation (SAML, OIDC, OAuth).
- Solid technical foundation in: Linux/Unix, Windows Server, Networking, Databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle), Web/Application Servers, and Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Excellent presentation, whiteboarding, and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to run successful POCs, handle technical objections, and create winning proposals.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work autonomously in a fast-paced, remote/hybrid environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel within India (approximately 30-40%).
Highly Desirable:
- Direct experience with OpenIAM, or competitors
- Knowledge of IT security frameworks, compliance regulations, and audit processes relevant to India.
- Scripting/programming skills (Java, Python, PowerShell, Bash).
- Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) in the context of IAM.
- Relevant certifications (CISSP, Security+, vendor-specific IAM certifications).
