Job Summary:
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Safety Officer to ensure a safe working environment at our Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) in Perundurai. The candidate will be responsible for implementing safety policies, ensuring regulatory compliance, and promoting a strong safety culture across plant operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies and procedures in compliance with statutory regulations
- Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments across the plant
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards applicable to CETP operations
- Identify hazards related to chemical handling, effluent treatment processes, and machinery, and implement control measures
- Conduct safety training, toolbox talks, and awareness programs for employees and contractors
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions
- Ensure proper usage of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and enforce safety discipline
- Coordinate emergency preparedness plans, including mock drills (fire, chemical spills, confined space rescue, etc.)
- Liaise with government authorities and ensure compliance with statutory requirements (Factory Act, Pollution Control Board norms, etc.)
- Maintain safety documentation, records, and reports
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Science / Environmental Science or related field
Experience:
- Minimum 4 years of experience in industrial safety
- Preferably from CETP, chemical, pharma, or manufacturing industries
- Hands-on experience in handling hazardous chemicals and effluent treatment processes
