Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Safety Engineer role based in Kolkata. The Safety Engineer will oversee day-to-day safety activities across project sites and facilities, including hazard identification, risk assessments, and incident investigations. Responsibilities include developing and implementing safety procedures, conducting toolbox talks and safety briefings, and monitoring compliance with local regulations, company policies, and industry standards. The role involves coordinating with project managers, supervisors, and subcontractors to integrate safety into planning and execution, as well as maintaining safety documentation, permits, and inspection records. The Safety Engineer will also support emergency preparedness, lead safety audits and site inspections, and recommend practical improvements to reduce risk and drive a strong safety culture.
Qualifications
- Strong foundation in Safety Engineering, including risk assessment, hazard analysis, and implementation of control measures.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health practices, including ergonomics, exposure assessment, and workplace health programs.
- Experience with Security and site access controls as they relate to overall safety and asset protection.
- Background in Construction Safety, including safe work methods for electrical, mechanical, and civil activities.
- Ability to design and deliver Training on safety procedures, emergency response, and regulatory requirements.
- Familiarity with relevant Indian safety regulations, codes, and standards (e.g., Factories Act, IS standards).
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Safety Engineering, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, or a related technical field.
- Professional certifications in safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent) preferred.
- Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to influence teams at all levels on safety matters.
- Demonstrated ability to work on-site in industrial or construction environments and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
