Safety & Compliance Officer

Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Safety & Compliance Officer to support and strengthen the organization’s aviation safety framework. The role involves assisting in the implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS), ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting safety audits, supporting hazard identification and risk mitigation, and maintaining aviation safety documentation in line with DGCA regulations.
This role is designed as a growth opportunity with a future progression path into Safety Manager responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the Safety Management System (SMS) in compliance with DGCA regulations.
- Conduct hazard identification, safety risk assessments, and mitigation planning across flight, ground, and maintenance operations.
- Perform routine safety inspections, audits, and procedural compliance checks to ensure operational and regulatory adherence.
- Monitor and analyse safety data, incident trends, and reporting systems to recommend corrective actions.
- Support FOQA/FDM analysis to identify operational deviations, SOP non-compliance, and emerging flight safety trends.
- Assist in incident and occurrence investigations, including root cause analysis and CAPA tracking.
- Prepare safety performance reports, SPI dashboards, and regulatory submissions for management review and compliance purposes.
- Coordinate Safety Review Board (SRB) and Safety Action Group (SAG) meetings, including action tracking and follow-ups.
- Conduct SMS induction, recurrent safety training, and safety awareness programs to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Encourage confidential hazard reporting and contribute towards building a Just Culture environment.
Preferred Candidate Profile
- Minimum 5 years of aviation experience in CAMO, Safety, or Technical Operations.
- Currently working as Senior Technical Officer / Senior TO / equivalent role.
- Exposure to DGCA audits and aviation documentation.
- Experience in a Flight Training Organization (FTO) environment preferred.
- Certification or training in SMS or Aviation Safety preferred.
Educational Qualification
- AME or Bachelor’s Degree in Aeronautical / Aerospace Engineering, OR
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Aviation Technology with relevant aviation safety experience.
Required Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of DGCA CAR regulations and SMS principles.
- Knowledge of risk assessment methodologies and compliance management.
- Experience in incident investigation and root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) and aviation documentation.
- Strong documentation, reporting, and analytical skills.
- Excellent stakeholder coordination and interpersonal abilities.
