Rural Metro Fire, the nation's largest private fire services organization, is looking for a Marketing Intern to join our team for the summer. This is a hands-on role where you will create real content, work alongside fire service professionals, and gain exposure to both B2B and B2C marketing in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
This internship is part of the Brindlee Summer Internship Program, a structured experience designed to develop top college talent through real-world business exposure in the fire service industry. You will be embedded in the Marketing and Communications function for the duration of the program, with opportunities to attend cross-divisional talks and sessions that provide a broader understanding of how Rural Metro Fire and Brindlee Mountain Fire Apparatus operate.
What You'll Do
- Help keep the marketing content calendar organized and on track.
- Draft social media posts, community newsletters, and simple digital content aimed at homeowners and members.
- Help build PowerPoint presentations and sales materials like one-pagers and pitch decks.
- Join firefighters and officers in the field to capture stories, photos, and content ideas.
- Help coordinate with print vendors and manage production timelines for marketing projects.
- Research prospects, industries, and markets to help the Business Development team prepare for meetings and proposals.
- Help build leave-behind materials and follow-up content that support the sales process from first contact through close.
- Write blog posts, service page content, and articles for the website that help drive organic search traffic and position Rural Metro Fire as an industry leader.
- Learn basic SEO principles and apply them to web content, including keyword research, metadata, and internal linking.
- Attend cross-divisional talks covering sales, operations, purchasing, and systems to build a well-rounded understanding of the business.

Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop).
- Organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Portfolio or work samples demonstrating design, layout, or content creation capabilities (class projects are acceptable).
Preferred
- Interest in fire service, emergency services, public safety, or membership-based industries.
- Familiarity with social media management, email marketing platforms, or CRM tools such as Salesforce.
- Photography skills, particularly in field or event settings.
Program Outcome
Interns will leave with a portfolio of professional marketing work, a real-world understanding of B2B and B2C marketing strategy, and exposure to the operational side of a national fire service organization. Top performers may be considered for future opportunities with Brindlee Fire Services.
