About The Role
We are seeking experienced and motivated software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on cutting-edge AI research projects. This role involves contributing to the development of large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets, specifically tailored for realistic software engineering problems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in working with high-quality open-source repositories, particularly those hosted on GitHub, and possess a keen eye for detail in software development and automation. Your responsibilities will include automating development environments, triaging issues, assessing test coverage, and evaluating code quality to support the creation of verifiable SWE tasks. This position offers an excellent opportunity to lead technical initiatives, collaborate with researchers, and influence the future of AI-assisted software development.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with proficiency in at least one programming language such as Ruby. Strong knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git, along with experience in containerization tools like Docker, is essential. Candidates should be comfortable navigating and modifying complex codebases, setting up development environments, and running real-world projects locally. Experience with open-source contributions or evaluations is highly desirable. Additional skills include familiarity with software pipelines, automation, and debugging. A background in AI or LLM research, while not mandatory, will be considered a plus.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues across trending open-source repositories on GitHub to identify challenging tasks for LLM evaluation.
- Set up, configure, and maintain development environments, including Dockerization and environment management.
- Assess and improve unit test coverage and code quality within repositories.
- Modify, run, and test codebases locally to evaluate LLM performance on bug-fixing and code understanding tasks.
- Collaborate closely with research teams to design datasets and identify repositories that pose challenges for current LLMs.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment for project success.
