About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on LLM evaluation and training datasets. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to projects that enhance the capabilities of AI systems in understanding and generating code. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, particularly with high-quality public GitHub repositories, and will be responsible for hands-on development activities. Your work will involve automating development environments, triaging issues, evaluating test coverage, and assessing LLM performance in real-world coding scenarios. As a senior member of the team, you will also have opportunities to lead junior engineers and collaborate closely with researchers to identify challenging repositories and issues for LLM evaluation.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Ruby.
- Strong experience with Git version control, Docker containerization, and setting up software pipelines.
- Ability to understand, navigate, and modify complex codebases effectively.
- Experience in running, testing, and troubleshooting real-world projects locally.
- Prior contribution to or evaluation of open-source projects is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented mindset.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues across trending open-source repositories on GitHub.
- Set up and configure development environments, including Dockerization and dependency management.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and assess code quality to identify areas for improvement.
- Modify and run codebases locally to test and evaluate the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing and code understanding tasks.
- Collaborate with research teams to design datasets and identify repositories and issues that challenge LLMs.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Document findings, contribute to project reports, and suggest improvements for dataset quality and coverage.
