Role Description The Rubber Technologist is a full-time, on-site role based in the Pune Division. This role is responsible for developing, testing, and optimizing rubber compounds and polymer formulations tailored to severe service applications and critical sealing requirements. Day-to-day activities include designing formulations, conducting laboratory tests, analyzing mechanical and chemical properties, and collaborating with engineering and production teams to ensure materials meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards. The Rubber Technologist will participate in troubleshooting material and process issues, support continuous improvement in manufacturing, and assist in customer-specific application development. The role also involves maintaining accurate technical documentation, preparing test reports, and contributing to new product development initiatives.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of rubber and polymer science, including formulation, compounding, and curing behavior for industrial applications.
- Experience with laboratory testing of rubber materials, such as hardness, tensile strength, elongation, compression set, and aging studies.
- Understanding of sealing technologies and performance requirements for valves and components used in severe service environments (e.g., high temperature, cryogenic, corrosive, abrasive).
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes for rubber and elastomer products, such as mixing, molding, extrusion, and quality control procedures.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and industry standards relevant to polymer and sealing solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose material and process issues and propose practical solutions.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work closely with engineering, production, and customer-facing teams.
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Rubber Technology, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
- Experience in heavy industry or severe service markets (Oil & Gas, Nuclear, Chemical Processing, Power Generation, Semiconductor) is an advantage.
