Job Summary:

Key duties will include loading/unloading trucks, railcars and barges with a variety of chemical products. Chemical operators will run a small batch manufacturing operation within the terminal.


Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):

  • Load and unload barges, tank cars and tank trucks with a variety of hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals.
  • Running a small batch manufacturing process.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of paperwork associated with the manufacturing/unloading/loading operations.
  • Contribute to safety and quality meetings.
  • Identify maintenance work and work with the Terminal or Manufacturing Supervisors to facilitate repairs as necessary.
  • Perform incidental maintenance work on equipment as needed.
  • Perform minor maintenance work on buildings and property as needed.
  • General housekeeping of work area and other misc. duties as necessary.


Qualifications (Knowledge, skills, and abilities):

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-4 Years of chemical manufacturing and/or distribution experience.
  • 1-5 Years of manufacturing or other heavy industrial experience.
  • Must be able to read/write/speak English.
  • Must be proficient in basic mathematics.
  • Must be able to pass a position based physical fitness test.


Skills & Ability

  • Experience with driving OTR trucks either on the road or in a plant environment.
  • Experience with Safety and/or Quality programs.
  • Experience handling Chlor-Alkali, flammable/combustible, petroleum or other hazardous materials.
  • Experience with computers programs including Microsoft Office products.


Safety Expectations

  • Maintain and promote safe practices and procedures in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Ensure availability of personal protective equipment.


 Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Requires lifting and handling of heavy objects; must be able to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to push, pull, sit, stand, crouch, reach, and have visual acuity.
  • Ability to climb ladders and storage tank stairs (approx. 50' in height) for maintenance, inspection, and gauging operations.
  • Work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
  • Able to run & help maintain process equipment.
  • Able to wear PPE (e.g., hard hat, safety glasses, respirator and safety work boots) as required.

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

  • Monday – Friday (full-time).
  • Possible overtime.
