Summary
As the brand is growing, so is our team! Egglife Foods is looking for a talented Food Scientist to join our Research & Development team, reporting to the R&D Manager and working closely with our Marketing & Operation teams. This position will be primarily responsible for providing technical leadership to continue to improve our current product portfolio & to drive development of new product categories from bench, to pilot scale up, and through full commercialization.

Essential job functions
Working with guidance and support from the Vice President of R&D and the R&D Manager but with expected autonomy you will:
- Provide technical leadership to develop new products & new product categories from bench to pilot scale up, and through full commercialization
- Work cross-functionally to support continuous improvement and optimization initiatives of current products and manufacturing lines
- Develop testing methods and data analysis tools to help build in-depth understanding of products, ingredients, processing conditions and equipment used in egglife operations
- Support creation of new processes and procedures as the company grows
- Provide guidance and training to laboratory technicians, new food scientists and other co-workers on experimental design, testing protocols, operation of equipment/instruments, and other as needed
- Think critically, balance multiple tasks, and be flexible wearing whatever hat is needed to support cross-functional teams and help meet company goals
- Contribute to our knowledge base, thought leadership, and company culture through your unique character and skills
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or Chemical/Biological Systems Engineering required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- 2+ years of relevant experience in food manufacturing, food product development, laboratory and/or pilot plant settings
- Experience in any of the following strongly preferred:
- Food safety – background in natural antimicrobials or HACCP/PCQI certifications are a strong plus
- Food engineering & continuous improvement
- Food packaging – background in flexible or modified atmosphere packaging are a strong plus
- Food product development – background in bakery, high protein/low carb or clean label foods are a strong plus
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
- Highly collaborative with the ability to lead through influence
- Self-starter and intellectually curious. Comfortable with ambiguity
- Experience working in small and large companies preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
