Description
The National Director of Safety & Risk Management is accountable for cultivating and maintaining a 'Safety First' mindset across all locations. This position is responsible for identifying emerging hazards and mitigating enterprise-wide risks that threaten our people and progress. This leader serves as a strategic partner to branch management, empowering local teams with the tools and training necessary to own their safety results. By unifying standards across every branch, the National Director of Safety & Risk Management drives operational excellence and fosters a proactive culture where safety is a shared value, ensuring the total well-being of our workforce.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Culture

Design and execute the national safety strategy, ensuring a "Safety First" mindset is embedded at every level of the organization.

Foster a national culture of collaboration and teamwork with all stakeholders across all entities.

Act as a strategic advisor to executive leadership and branches, aligning safety initiatives with overall business goals.

Drive "Safety Ownership" at the local level, moving the culture from reactive compliance to proactive risk recognition.

Lead national safety initiatives and program development, ensuring uniform compliance with OSHA regulations, industry standards, and company policies for all stakeholders.
Risk Mitigation & Incident Prevention

Develop and enforce specific prevention programs for catastrophic risks, with a primary focus on fall protection protocols and fleet/transportation safety standards.

Lead the process for identifying emerging operational hazards and implement enterprise-wide mitigation strategies to protect human and financial assets.

Oversee the investigation of all major incidents to identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are standardized across all locations.
Compliance, Standards & Governance

Ensure all entities are in compliance with industry, state, federal, and company-related safety guidelines.

Establish and maintain a unified set of safety Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency across all branches and business entities.

Ensure the organization remains in full compliance with OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.

Implement a rigorous internal audit and inspection cadence to measure branch-level adherence to national standards.
Operational Excellence & Training

Oversee the creation and delivery of high-impact safety training programs that empower employees with the expertise to perform their roles safely.

Manage risk associated with the company’s fleet, including driver qualification, telematics monitoring, and accident prevention training.

Partner with insurance carriers and brokers to manage workers' compensation claims and leverage data to reduce experience modification rates (EMR).
Data Analytics & Reporting

Requirements
Required
-
Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management, Engineering, or a related field.

10+ years of progressive leadership experience in safety and risk management, ideally within construction, roofing, or industrial sectors.

Proven track record of managing safety programs across a decentralized, multi-site or national organizational structure.

Extensive experience developing and enforcing specialized programs for fall protection and fleet/transportation safety.

Demonstrated success in reducing Total Recordable Incident Rates (TRIR) and Experience Modification Rates (EMR) through cultural and systemic change.

Extensive knowledge of OSHA (1910 and 1926), DOT/FMCSA, and EPA regulations.

Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

Multi-lingual capabilities (Spanish/English).

Experience implementing and managing safety management software and advanced fleet telematics platforms.

Previous experience in executive-level reporting and presenting safety strategy to Board-level stakeholders.
