About the role
Key Responsibilities
- Operate the Panel bender/press brake to bend and form sheet metal parts to specification.
- Read and interpret manufacturing drawings, work orders, and production documentation.
- Select appropriate tooling and set up the press brake for required bends and part geometries.
- Load and position sheet metal materials into the press brake safely and accurately.
- Measure and verify finished parts using measuring tape, angle finder, and other measuring tools.
- Make minor adjustments to machine settings to maintain accuracy and part quality.
- Perform first-piece inspection and ongoing checks during production runs.
- Maintain accurate part counts and record production information as required.
- Communicate production status, issues, or quality concerns to the supervisor.
- Follow instructions and direction provided by the manufacturing supervisor or lead.
- Handle materials and finished parts carefully to prevent damage.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with company safety standards.
- Follow all safety procedures when operating machinery and handling materials.
- Assist with general production tasks as needed.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during the work shift.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of sheet metal parts.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings and bend requirements.
- Basic understanding of measuring tools, including tape measures and angle finders.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to work with manufacturing equipment.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a production team.
- Good communication skills and ability to take direction from supervisors.
