Key Responsibilities
• Break out laser-cut parts from sheet metal skeletons (remaining material after CNC cutting)
• Ensure all parts are fully removed from the sheet, with nothing left behind in the skeleton
• Sort and organize parts by job, part number, and production priority
• Apply identification labels/stickers to each part to ensure traceability throughout the shop floor
• Separate usable parts from scrap skeleton material
• Remove and dispose of skeleton scrap in designated recycling or waste areas
• Inspect parts during breakout for obvious defects (incomplete cuts, tip-ups, warping, etc.)
• Stage completed parts for the forming department in an organized and efficient manner
• Maintain a clean and safe work area around laser tables and breakout stations
• Communicate issues with cut quality, missing parts, or labeling discrepancies to supervisors or QC
• Follow all safety procedures when handling sharp edges and heavy materials
Material & Equipment Handling
• Work with sheet metal ranging from 20ga, 18ga, 14ga, 12ga, and 10ga
• Handle full sheets (e.g., 48” x 120”) and remaining skeleton structures safely
• Use proper PPE and safe lifting techniques when handling sharp or heavy material
Physical Requirements
• Ability to consistently lift up to 50 lbs
• Frequent bending, lifting, reaching, and standing
• Ability to maneuver and break down large sheet skeletons
Required Skills & Qualifications
• Strong attention to detail to ensure no parts are missed in the skeleton
• Ability to read and match part numbers, job travelers, and labels
• Good organizational skills to keep parts separated and accurate by job
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
• Strong awareness of safety when handling sharp sheet metal
