Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role based in Bengaluru for a Robotics Competitions and R&D Lead. We are looking for a Robotics Competition Specialist who can take complete ownership of robotics Olympiad planning, training, content creation, and competition execution. This role requires a strong technical background, prior experience in robotics competitions, and the ability to design meaningful learning and competition experiences for students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Train and mentor students (ages 5-15) for robotics competitions such as Indian Robotics Olympiad (IRO), World Robot Olympiad (WRO), FIRST LEGO League (FLL), or similar
- Teach core robotics and programming concepts
- Analyze competition rules and break challenges
- Create detailed training plans, timelines, and preparation roadmaps
- Design strategies aligned with real-world problem-solving and competition constraints
- Design, build, program, and fine-tune competition robots
- Develop clean, reusable, and efficient programs (blocks / MicroPython / Arduino-based)
- Support robot calibration, testing, and performance optimization
- Prepare teams for robot inspection, trial runs, and judging
- Work closely with the core team to continuously improve Olympiad structure and quality
- Manage competition-day execution (offline/online)
- Coordinate with students, parents, organizers, and judges
- Handle last-minute troubleshooting and decision-making during events
- Ensure smooth execution and a positive learning experience for participants
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in engineering, robotics, mechatronics, electronics, computer science, or related field
- 1-5 years of prior experience in robotics competitions, STEM education, or coaching
- Strong hands-on experience with LEGO Robotics/SPIKE/EV3/Arduino / Micro: bit (any) and block-based coding and/or MicroPython/C++
- Solid understanding of competition-based robotics workflows
- Ability to plan independently and take ownership of deliverables
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Experience participating in or coaching WRO, IRO, FLL, Robocup, etc.
- Experience in designing Olympiad challenges or rulebooks
- Content creation skills (training material, presentations, videos, or guides)
- Willingness to travel for competitions and workshops
- Passion for mentoring and STEM education
