Heavy Industrial Concrete Carpenter
The Heavy Industrial Concrete Carpenter is responsible for constructing, installing, and dismantling formwork systems used in large-scale industrial construction projects such as power plants, manufacturing facilities, and infrastructure sites. This role requires the ability to read and interpret blueprints, build precise concrete forms, and work safely in demanding environments including elevated structures, confined spaces, and varying weather conditions. The Form Carpenter ensures quality, accuracy, and structural integrity while collaborating with crews to meet production schedules and maintain strict safety standards.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reads blueprints, drawings and sketches to fully grasp requirements.
- Coordinates with job site Superintendent/Foreman to configure construction lay out.
- Installation of forms for placing concrete and grout.
- Assists with the proper installation of reinforcing, anchors and imbeds.
- Is familiar with all safe work practices for hand tools and power tools if trained.
- Knowledgeable of elevations and has ability to help shoot grades.
- Uses Levels: site, laser, transit etc.
- Accurately measures, cuts and installs materials.
- Assists with concrete placement on footings, walls, flatwork and grade work.
- Assists other craft workers as needed or assigned.
- Takes personal responsibility for fostering a safe workplace by following safety policies and procedures.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Coordinate eye-hand movements with control and precision.
- Use hands and fingers fully; reach for, manipulate and feel objects; stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl.
- Climb and maintain body balance on ladders, scaffolding, or high structures; and see and hear well (either naturally or with correction).
- Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Stoop, lay, bend or squat for long periods of time.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- May be exposed to fumes, dust or other airborne particles, and loud noises.
- Position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and vibrating machinery.
- May be exposed to extreme outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
- Overtime, shiftwork, some holidays and weekends may be required.
REQUIRED TOOLS
Must possess and bring the following hand tools to each job site:
Tool Belt, Hammer, Tape Measure (30-35"), Chalk Line, Carpenter’s Pencil, Utility Knife, Tin Snips, Nail Puller, Speed Square, Framing Square, Levels/Plumb Bob and Wood Chisel.
