Role Description The Resident Medical Officer (RMO) at Thanal will provide on-site clinical care and medical oversight for program participants and community members in Cannanore. This full-time role includes conducting patient assessments, diagnosing common conditions, prescribing appropriate treatments, and maintaining accurate medical records. The RMO will coordinate with local health facilities, support referral processes, and ensure timely follow-up care. The role also involves overseeing basic emergency care, promoting preventive health practices, and participating in health awareness and outreach activities aligned with Thanal’s sustainable development initiatives. The RMO will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contribute to program planning from a medical perspective, and help develop protocols that prioritize safety, quality of care, and community well-being.
Qualifications
- Recognized medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) and valid registration with the appropriate medical council.
- Experience as an RMO or similar clinical role, preferably in community health, primary care, or NGO settings.
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnosis, and treatment skills, including basic emergency care and patient management.
- Ability to maintain clear, accurate medical documentation and manage patient records responsibly.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse communities and multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated commitment to ethical medical practice, patient confidentiality, and culturally sensitive care.
- Organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple cases and program responsibilities efficiently.
- Interest in public health, preventive medicine, and community-based interventions; experience in health education is an advantage.
- Willingness to work on-site in Cannanore and participate in outreach activities in surrounding areas.
- Proficiency in relevant local languages is beneficial, along with basic computer skills for electronic documentation.
