Job Title: Overhead Lineman 3rd Class

Department: Operations

Reports To: Overhead Foreman

FLSA Status: Non- Exempt

Work Schedule: Four 10-hour days per week.

Position Purpose:

Overhead 3rd Class Lineman is an entry level lineman position in the construction and maintenance of overhead electrical distribution and service lines, transformers, meters, metering equipment, electrical substations, and related equipment. Other tasks include climbing wood poles, ladders, and towers. Employees perform tasks on the job site.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • You will work safely, complying with all company safety rules and policies, while assisting in the new construction or maintenance of energized and de-energized overhead work.

  • Support the installation or removal of overhead conductors, capacitors, regulators, transformers, transformer banks, lightening arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches and switchgear.

  • Frame, install, or remove wood, steel, or concrete poles and supports.

  • Maintain company vehicles, equipment, rubber goods, PPE, and tools in good working order.

  • Contribute to the Pre-Job Briefing.

We also require you to speak and listen while performing job tasks. You will also frequently require you to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment:

While performing the responsibilities of this job, you are frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. You are occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. You will perform tasks in outside weather conditions.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1 or more years of experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and acceptable driving record

  • Communicate in English, both orally and written.

  • Ability to travel and work for extended periods in different locations.
