Role Overview
We are looking for a Risk Engineer to support insurance risk assessment and inspection activities. The role involves conducting site inspections, evaluating risks related to fire, machinery, and business interruption, and providing technical inputs to underwriters for informed decision-making.
Key ResponsibilitiesRisk Assessment & Inspection
- Conduct risk inspections to identify and assess exposures including Fire & Allied Perils, Machinery Breakdown, and Loss of Profit
- Provide detailed and accurate inputs to insurance underwriters as per their requirements
- Evaluate industrial operations, processes, and safety systems
Risk Improvement & Advisory
- Suggest risk improvement measures related to Fire Safety, Electrical Safety, Accident Prevention, and Safety Management Systems
- Recommend emergency preparedness and response measures
- Support underwriters by providing recommendations that can be incorporated as policy warranties
Insurance Support
- Coordinate with HO / Regional Underwriters, Regional Managers, and Business Development teams for scheduling inspections
- Analyze existing insurance coverage and identify gaps in insurable and uninsurable risks
- Suggest improvements in insurance planning and coverage
Additional Responsibilities
- Participate in safety audits and other risk management activities as required
- Prepare detailed inspection reports with risk ratings and recommendations
- Ensure timely delivery of assignments and adherence to quality standards
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree (B.E / B.Tech) in Chemical / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering
- 4–5 years of experience in risk engineering / safety / insurance inspection roles
- Strong understanding of industrial risks and insurance concepts
- Good knowledge of fire safety, electrical safety, and safety management systems
- Excellent analytical and report-writing skills
Special Requirements
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Willingness to travel extensively (pan-India as required)
- Self-motivated with proactive approach and eagerness to learn
Location & Travel Expectations
- Base location: Hyderabad is the primary work location and candidates are expected to be based in (or willing to relocate to) Hyderabad. Regular office attendance at the Hyderabad regional office is required unless otherwise agreed with the manager.
- Travel frequency: Typical travel expectation is approximately 40%–60% of working time, varying by business needs. Most assignments are pan-India and usually involve short site visits of 1–3 days; occasional longer field assignments (up to one week) may be required.
- Travel logistics: Field travel will commonly include overnight stays and weekend travel as needed. Schedules are planned in coordination with regional managers and underwriters; advance notice will be provided wherever possible.
- Support during travel: Travel allowances, reimbursements, and expense policies apply as per company policy. The company will provide necessary support for coordination and logistics.
