What You'll Do
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations, US, the Director of Preconstruction is responsible for leading all estimating and preconstruction activities across the United States. They play a key role in the planning, budgeting, and design coordination to ensure successful project delivery. The Director of Preconstruction provides strategic leadership to a team of estimating and preconstruction professionals and works closely with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders. Acting as a key bridge between project planning and execution this role ensure projects are accurately scoped, competitively priced, and well positioned for delivery.
Key Responsibilities
The responsibilities include, but may not be limited to:
- Lead and manage Estimating and preconstruction department, asses departmental needs including coaching, developing staff and performance reviews
- Oversee and manage the preconstruction phase of projects from initiation to construction kickoff. This includes Defining the project, Risk Identification, Cost Estimation, Planning and Scheduling, Client Relations, Risk Management, Supervision and Leadership, Project Oversight
- Collaborate with clients, project teams, and stakeholders to establish project scope, goals, and budget.
- Lead the development of initial project schedules, cost estimates, and value engineering options, subcontracting strategies, development of working schedules for the project, produce, collect and distribute RFI’s
- Conduct pre and post bid meetings
- Coordinate and manage the design and engineering process, including review and approval of drawings and specifications.
- Provide guidance and support to project teams to ensure successful project delivery
- Interface with clients to determine needs and represent company in a positive way
- Manage and negotiate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on preconstruction progress
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards
- Effectively communicate and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders
- Lead continuous improvement in the preparation of estimating and proposal process
- Identify, deploy, and manage a high-performing team needed to accomplish business objectives by:
- Assessing current team members and other functional support to evaluate capacity and overall strengths.
- Hiring outstanding talent.
- Aligning individual and team objectives to business unit and company objectives.
- Managing and supporting employee development and growth.
- Providing regular and direct feedback on performance and goal progress.
- Engages with senior client management on a regular basis to address any concerns, resolve project issues, and finalize any change orders, while maintaining positive relationship
