Employment with Ridgefield School District is conditional on:
- An approved criminal background clearance through OSPI, Washington State Patrol, and/or Federal Bureau of Investigation
- Drug/Alcohol screening
- Completion of an Employment Eligibility Verification form (USCIS Form I-9) presenting proof of identity and employment authorization status
- Completion of all district-required training within sixty (60) calendar days from hire date

Temporary Summer Help - Field / Grounds

Reports To: Manager of Maintenance and Operations
Duration: June 22, 2026 - August 2026
Daily Schedule: 8 hours per day, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM (includes a 30 minute unpaid
lunch break) - Start/end times may vary during summer -
Monday - Friday
Pay: $23.73 per hour
Benefits: Position does not meet minimum hours to qualify for benefits.
Retirement: Position does not meet minimum hours to qualify for retirement.

Duties
May include but are not limited to:
● Perform grounds work such as seeding, laying sod, mowing, striping, fertilizing;
raking and sweeping leaves; pulling, hoeing and cutting weeds; pruning, applying
pesticides and fertilizing trees and shrubs. Clear drainage in order to preserve
grounds in a healthy, attractive and safe condition.
● Assist with a variety of maintenance projects as directed by the maintenance lead.
● Perform grounds maintenance work, with minimum supervision
● Assist in the lifting and moving of classroom furniture, supplies, and equipment.
● Safely operate power equipment such as tractors, trucks (one ton or less), mowers,
sweepers, trimmers and other equipment as required.
● Implement and follow established safety procedures.

● Establish and maintain a protected, organized work area/environment including the
work site, vehicles, tools and equipment, and interaction with staff, students, and
public to ensure the utmost in safety.
● Respond to emergency situations involving maintenance, grounds and operations.
● Notify appropriate authority immediately in event of any incident or unsafe condition
on school properties.
● Respond to any accident/unsafe condition to ensure immediate safety.
● Perform physical tasks, including repeated lifting of a minimum of 75 pounds and
standing for extended periods.
● Perform related duties as required to ensure safe environments for staff, students
and community.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
● Ability to communicate and carry out District/building rules, regulations and
procedures.
● Possess competent record keeping skills.
● Possess competent organizational skills.
● Possess effective communication skills.
● Ability to problem-solve as needed.
● Ability to work with others as part of a team and maintain a positive attitude.
● Ability to read, write and compute per needs of position.
● Ability to work independently in maintenance and grounds, under the technical
direction of the Maintenance and Operations Supervisor.
● Ability to maintain confidentiality with regard to student and staff matters.
● Physical ability to be on feet for extended periods of time, and work outdoors in all
types of weather. Complete heavy physical labor including frequent lifting and
carrying a minimum of 75 pounds of bulky supplies and equipment.
● Job function requires significant physical demands in lifting, carrying, pushing
and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stopping, bending, kneeling,
crouching and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.
● Ability to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.
● Demonstrate pride in the appearance of buildings and grounds and promote that
pride with students, staff and the public.
● Present a neat and clean appearance.
● Ability to multi-task while working in the presence of students, staff and community.
● Consistent, reliable attendance according to established work schedule is required.
Education / Training
● Must be at least 18 years old. If driving district vehicles or operate power equipment,
must possess a valid Driver's License.
Experience
● Knowledge and/or experience in area of facility maintenance to include grounds,
fields, playgrounds and parking areas.
