RH is seeking a Quality Engineer to join the Joseph Jeup operations team, upholding our uncompromising standards of excellence across product development and production. This role ensures quality at every stage -from supplier qualification, through craft, and final delivery while leveraging close partnerships with internal teams and external vendors. The position is based at our Grand Rapids, MI facility.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Define and continuously refine Quality Acceptance Standards and Operator Standard Work to ensure consistent execution
- Lead root cause analysis of defects, failures, and aesthetic inconsistencies using structured problem-solving methodologies
- Apply established standards and procedures to make clear decisions on escalated quality issues
- Evaluate production processes to identify improvement opportunities and implement sustainable solutions
- Partner with craftspeople, engineering, purchasing, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and strengthen upstream performance
- Design and implement scalable quality systems, processes, and controls to proactively drive product excellence
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery
- Establish and maintain quality assurance policies and procedures that support long-term operational consistency
OUR REQUIREMENTS
- 4+ years of experience in a quality engineering or technical role, preferably within high-end residential or contract furnishings
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Engineering or a related technical field, preferred
- Strong understanding of quality engineering principles, methodologies, and best practices
- Working knowledge of furniture-related product testing standards and requirements
- Proficiency with engineering and quality tools used for analysis, problem-solving, and process improvement
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certification preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Frequently move throughout a manufacturing environment, including standing and walking for extended periods
- Occasionally lift and carry materials or product samples up to 25 pounds as needed
- Occasionally bending, stooping, and reaching in support of inspections and production floor activity
- Visually inspect products for quality, including identifying fine details and aesthetic inconsistencies
- Operate standard office equipment, including computers and handheld devices
