Brela Innovations Private Limited is a government-supported startup borne out of IIT Kanpur and KGMU, Lucknow.
We are looking for a motivated engineer with expertise in
RF systems, embedded firmware, and antenna design to work on cutting-edge healthcare and sensing technologies. The role involves designing RF-enabled embedded systems operating in the MHz–GHz range, including antenna systems, RF front ends, and control firmware.
Job Description:
Title – RF, Analog & Antenna Design Engineer
Experience - 1+ years of experience
Job Type - Permanent (On-site)
Location- IIT Kanpur
Salary – As per industry norms
Key Responsibilities:
RF & Antenna Design
Design and develop RF front-end systems (GHz range)
Design antennas for wideband and narrowband applications
Perform EM simulations using CST / HFSS / ADS
Work on antenna arrays and mutual coupling analysis
Optimize impedance matching, bandwidth, gain, and efficiency
Analyse radiation patterns, polarization, and system performance
Circuit & System Design
Design RF signal chains (source → switching → receiver)
Develop:
LNAs, mixers, RF detectors
Active & passive filters
Work on impedance matching networks (50Ω systems)
Apply knowledge of:
Noise figure, gain, linearity, stability
Analog signal integrity and biasing
PCB Design (High-Frequency)
Design and layout PCBs for MHz–GHz applications
Implement:
Controlled impedance routing (microstrip / CPWG)
RF trace design and stack-up planning
Ensure proper:
Grounding, shielding, via stitching
Crosstalk and reflection minimization
Integrate RF connectors (e.g., SMA)
Embedded Systems & Firmware
Develop firmware in Embedded C
Interface RF components via:
SPI / I2C / UART / GPIO
Control:
Frequency synthesizers, switches, attenuators
Implement:
Frequency sweeping
Measurement and control logic
Simulation, Testing & Validation
Perform RF simulations:
S-parameters (S11, S21)
Impedance matching
Use lab equipment:
Vector Network Analyzer (VNA)
Oscilloscope
Conduct:
RF debugging and tuning
Antenna validation and measurements
Support PCB bring-up, calibration, and testing
Required Skills
Core Knowledge
RF fundamentals (frequency, wavelength, impedance, S-parameters)
Transmission line theory (microstrip, CPWG)
Antenna theory and design principles
RF system architecture and signal chains
Technical Skills
High-frequency PCB design techniques
50-ohm system design
Embedded C programming
MATLAB (preferred)
Tools & Software
