About the role

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Organizes precise programs for the application of all pesticides
  • Maintains Audubon Certified Status for the golf course
  • Practices sound agronomic principles
  • Assists in the selection of equipment
  • Assist in the establishment of all national buying programs
  • Maintains all appropriate documentation, i.e. spray logs
  • Identifies annual capital expenditure needs through the budget process short and long term
  • Creates annual budget designed for the specific needs of the golf course
  • Responsible for inventory control of facility
  • Plans and establishes cost effective work schedules for personnel
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring and training crew members; planning, assigning, and direction or work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining staff; addressing complaints and resolving problems
  • Provides leadership and motivation for all crew members
  • Establishes overseeding programs
  • Communicates regularly with management, golf staff and members

 

Safety Responsibilities and Requirements: 

  • Provides leadership, communication, training, support and attention to safety programs, systems and techniques
  • Sets budget, goals and objectives for continued monitoring and improvement of safety programs
  • Performs risk assessment as part of decision and problem solving process
  • Takes personal responsibility for safety every day

 

Qualifications/Requirements/Experience/Education: 

  • BS or Associates degree in Agronomy or Turf Grass Management or related field
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in all phases of golf course management
  • Knowledge of financial forecasting for a golf course operation
  • GA Pesticide License
  • Participates in continuing education opportunities
  • Participates in professional organizations such as GCSAA and GGCSA
  • Participates in Greens Committee meetings as required
  • Ability to lead and motivate team
