Primary Responsibility Serves as a critical bridge between transaction-level execution and higher-level financial oversight - Transaction Supervision & General Ledger
- Supervise and review the accuracy and completeness of all transaction-level accounting activity, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, payroll entries, and general journal entries
- Serve as the first line of review for finance team, ensuring entries are properly coded and documented
- Monitor the general ledger for unusual activity, misclassifications, or errors, and initiate corrective action as appropriate
- Month-End Close & Reconciliations
- Prepare and review balance sheet account reconciliations for all key accounts, including cash, prepaid expenses, accrued liabilities, fixed assets, and intercompany accounts
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner, escalating material issues to the Controller
- Maintain a close checklist and ensure all deliverables are completed within established deadlines
- Prepare and distribute month-end financial schedules and variance analyses for management review
- Budgeting & Forecasting Support
- Assist in the preparation of the annual operating budget, including coordinating departmental input and consolidating submissions
- Perform budget-to-actual variance analysis on a monthly basis, identifying key drivers of variance and communicating findings clearly
- Maintain budget tracking schedules and respond to ad hoc requests from department managers regarding budget status
- Controller Support & Reporting
- Assist the Controller preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules
- Support external audit and tax preparation activities, including organizing workpapers and responding to auditor requests
- Maintain and oversee the company's lease accounting portfolio in accordance with ASC 842, including the timely recording of ROU assets and lease liabilities, monthly amortization schedules, and coordination with operations to identify and classify new or modified lease agreements
- Participate in the implementation or improvement of accounting systems, processes, and internal controls
- Assist with preparation of regulatory filings, lender reporting, or board-level financial packages as directed
Qualifications and Education Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field with coursework in accounting
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment
- Prior experience supervising accounting transactions or junior staff preferred
- Excellent computer skills including proficiency in MS Office. MAS 90/Sage 100 experience a plus
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple requests/assignments
- Strong communications skills for both staff and upper management
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as business demands
