Antkind Collective
Senior Strategist - Research and Intelligence
Location: Remote (India preferred) | Experience: 4-6 years
Reporting to: Head of Strategy | Type: Full-time
One week, you are mapping the mineral sunscreen category and identifying actionable consumer insights from millions of data points. Next, you are building an intelligence engine for a global arts and activism movement trying to stay ahead of the conversation. This is what a good week looks like at Antkind.
We are looking for a research and intelligence professional who can own the full arc of a research project - from scoping and brief through execution, synthesis, and client presentation. Someone equally comfortable designing a consumer study, running a social listening exercise, and presenting findings to a founder. The work sits at the intersection of market intelligence, consumer behaviour, and category strategy, with skincare and personal care as the primary domain.
About Antkind
Antkind is a strategy and creative collective for the brands of the future. We are narrative engineers for climate tech, deep tech, and impact-focused organisations. Our specialisation is taking the world's most complex, world-changing ideas and translating them into culturally sharp, non-preachy narratives that drive investment, adoption, and cultural relevance.
Our clients include Global Artivism (the global social movement led by Kumi Naidoo), altM (alternate materials innovation), Unilever, Godrej, Pyse (green investing), Zerocircle (seaweed-based packaging launched with Swiggy), Sony, and Payoneer, among others.
Varta is our narrative intelligence practice. It serves purpose-driven organisations working on long-arc challenges - clean beauty, climate, public health, education, policy, social movements, and governance. The work sits at the intersection of brand intelligence, discourse analysis, and narrative strategy. It goes well beyond typical marketing research, and that is precisely what makes it interesting. Varta is your core mandate in this role.
What You'll Do
Research design and project ownership
Scope, design, and lead market and narrative research projects end to end - from initial brief to final report. This includes defining research questions, building source and query architecture, configuring listening and analysis tools, synthesising findings, and presenting to clients. On certain projects, you might be working with research partners/agencies as well. You will own the quality and rigour of what goes out. This includes both primary as well as secondary research.
Online listening and platform-based research
Work fluently across social listening platforms, media intelligence tools, and research databases. Familiarity with tools like Meltwater, Netbase, GWI, or Mintel is important - the specific platform matters less than knowing how to extract intelligence from them.
Narrative and discourse analysis
Go beyond surface metrics. Translate listening data into structured intelligence about how issues are framed, who is shaping the conversation, what is missing, and where the conversation is heading. This is the core analytical skill the role demands - and it applies whether we are researching climate narratives, global movements, or consumer behaviour in an FMCG vertical.
Client and partner engagement
Be in the room with clients. Present findings with clarity and confidence, field questions, and translate research intelligence into strategic direction. This is not a back-room research role - the ability to sell and defend your work matters.
Practice development
Contribute to building Varta as a practice - identifying new tools, proposing new methodologies, spotting use cases for new clients. This is not your primary responsibility, but the intellectual curiosity to think about how the practice evolves is something we value.
Brand strategy support
On occasion, contribute to brand strategy and identity projects across the wider Antkind portfolio. This is roughly 10% of the role.
You Should Have
- 4-6 years of experience in market research, brand strategy, or a related field, with a meaningful portion of that time spent on research design and execution rather than just analysis of delivered data.
- Have prior experience in skincare, personal care, or adjacent consumer categories - either through brand, research, or agency work.
- Hands-on experience with social listening and media intelligence platforms - Meltwater, Netbase, Brandwatch, Quid, or similar.
- Familiarity with research databases and consumer intelligence tools such as GWI, Mintel, Euromonitor, or equivalent.
- Deep understanding of typical primary research tools like surveys, FGDs, DIs, including ability to moderate and conduct a full scale study.
- Strong analytical instincts - the ability to separate signal from noise, identify patterns across large data sets, and construct a coherent narrative from complex findings.
- Clear, confident written and verbal communication. You can write a sharp research report and present it to a client without losing either the rigour or the story.
- Experience scoping and managing research projects independently, including defining timelines, managing tools and vendors, and delivering on time.
- Genuine intellectual curiosity about the kinds of questions we work on - climate, sustainability, social movements, policy, public discourse - not just consumer brands.
Bonus Points If You
- Have worked on research projects in climate, sustainability, public health, governance, or social impact.
- Have experience with narrative or discourse analysis beyond standard brand tracking or social analytics.
- Understand how to design research that goes beyond stated preferences to surface underlying beliefs, values, and behavioural drivers.
- Can bring a systems-thinking perspective to research - understanding how different actors, institutions, and narratives interact rather than reading them in isolation.
What We Offer
- Work on research that actually matters - not just brand trackers and NPS scores, but intelligence that shapes how innovations, movements, organisations, and ideas grow.
- A genuinely multidisciplinary environment. You will work alongside strategists, writers, designers, scientists, and activists from across the world.
- Real ownership of projects and client relationships from day one.
- Remote-first, outcome-driven. Core hours, not clock hours.
- A variety of domains and clients that goes well beyond the typical scope of a research or strategy role.
- An annual offsite: immersive, substantive, and low on corporate awkwardness.
