About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Scientist to join our Bioscience Department at Crystal Crop Protection Limited. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the development and optimization of microbial-based biofertilizers and biopesticides, with a particular focus on mycorrhiza development using ROC methods. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in agricultural biotechnology, supporting sustainable farming initiatives. The Research Scientist will be responsible for designing experiments, conducting laboratory and field trials, and ensuring the quality and efficacy of our bio-based products. The role requires a strong understanding of microbiological processes, fermentation technology, and formulation techniques to develop innovative solutions that align with the company's mission of promoting eco-friendly agriculture practices.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should possess a Master’s degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology, or a related field such as B.Tech or M.Tech in Biotechnology. Candidates should have 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in microbial research, fermentation, or biofertilizer development within the agricultural biotechnology industry. A solid understanding of tissue culture, microbial isolation, identification, and purification techniques is essential. Experience with fermentation processes, including batch fermentation and solid-state fermentation (SSF), as well as proficiency in handling laboratory instruments such as autoclaves, microscopes, pH meters, and spectrophotometers, is required. Knowledge of the complete process of mycorrhiza development via ROC method and familiarity with CIP and SIP procedures for fermenters will be highly advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Design, plan, and execute experiments related to the development of mycorrhiza using ROC methods, ensuring adherence to quality standards.
- Develop and optimize microbial culture media for growth promotion, tissue culture, and microbial propagation.
- Isolate, identify, and purify beneficial microbes from soil and other environmental sources to enhance biofertilizer formulations.
- Maintain culture media parameters, monitor contamination, and ensure the quality of microbial cultures at FCO (Fermentation and Culture Operations) parameters.
- Prepare and test inoculums, ensuring their viability and efficacy through appropriate microbiological techniques.
- Handle fermenters at both laboratory and pilot scales, managing fermentation processes including CIP (Clean-In-Place) and SIP (Sterilization-In-Place) protocols.
- Develop formulations of biofertilizers and biopesticides in various forms such as granules, powders, liquids, and carriers based on project requirements.
- Conduct raw material and finished product analysis in accordance with FCO parameters to ensure quality and consistency.
- Operate and maintain laboratory instruments including autoclaves, LAF cabinets, microscopes, centrifuges, pH meters, UV spectrophotometers, and moisture analyzers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless progression of research projects from conception to commercialization.
- Maintain detailed records of experiments, results, and protocols for quality assurance and regulatory compliance.
