Company Description
Libra Sentinel is a data privacy and AI governance practice advising on how legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations apply to real-world data use and AI systems.
The work focuses on:
- advising on data collection, use, sharing, and cross-border transfers under applicable privacy laws
- assessing AI systems for legal and regulatory risk prior to deployment
- drafting and reviewing technology and AI-related contracts, including risk allocation and liability
- supporting responses to regulatory inquiries, enforcement actions, and emerging disputes
- analyzing how existing legal frameworks apply to new and evolving uses of data and AI
Role Description
This is a 1-month, remote research internship focused on analyzing real-world AI litigation and data privacy enforcement.
Interns will independently identify relevant cases, regulatory actions, and enforcement developments, and prepare one short, structured case brief per week as part of a guided analytical method. The emphasis is on developing a clear and repeatable method of legal analysis.
Each brief will require:
- clear identification of the legal issue
- accurate understanding of the outcome
- analysis of what the case shows in practice and where gaps remain
The focus is on understanding:
- how legal frameworks are applied in real-world situations
- how regulators and courts are responding to AI and data-related harms
- where existing laws and governance mechanisms fall short
Key Responsibilities
Identify relevant litigation, regulatory actions, and enforcement developments
Prepare one structured case brief per week (guidance provided)
Move beyond summary to:
- identify legal issues
- extract practical implications
- highlight gaps in governance or enforcement

Qualifications
- LL.B. graduate (preferred) or final year LL.B. student
- Strong interest in AI, data privacy, or technology law
- Ability to think analytically
- Clear, structured writing
- Ability to work independently
Candidates from adjacent backgrounds (e.g. policy, technology, or related fields) may be considered where they can demonstrate equivalent depth through structured learning in data privacy or AI governance (e.g. IAPP certifications such as CIPP and/or AIGP, relevant coursework, or applied experience).
Compensation
This is a non-remunerated, short-term research internship focused on analytical work and practical exposure to AI and data privacy issues.

Selection Process
Shortlisted applicants may be asked to submit a short writing sample and may be invited for a brief interview. The writing sample should demonstrate the ability to identify legal issues, understand outcomes, and draw practical implications.
