Research Assistant Intern

Role Description
We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant Intern to support a rural mental health research and awareness project in Sitapur/Machhrehta, Uttar Pradesh. The role will involve field-based data collection, community engagement, research documentation, analysis, and report preparation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with surveys, interviews, focus groups, and field data collection.
- Support community awareness sessions on mental health, youth wellbeing, alcohol dependency, and suicide prevention.
- Help organise workshops with schools, women’s groups, ASHA workers, and community stakeholders.
- Enter, clean, organise, and analyse research data.
- Assist in preparing reports, presentations, and awareness materials.
- Support service mapping and referral pathway documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow ethical research practices.
- Travel locally for project-related fieldwork.
Travel Support
A two-wheeler/scooty will be provided for local field travel.
Candidate must know how to ride a scooty/two-wheeler confidently.
Local conveyance/project travel expenses will be covered.
Qualifications
- Pursuing or completed degree in Psychology, Behavioural Sciences, Social Work, Public Health, Sociology, Education, or related field.
- Strong interest in mental health, rural health, community work, or psychological research.
- Good communication skills in Hindi; English desirable.
- Basic knowledge of surveys, interviews, data collection, or research methods.
- Familiarity with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Forms, or similar tools.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Commitment to confidentiality, safeguarding, and ethical practice.
Salary/Stipend
₹15,000–₹25,000 per month, depending on qualifications, experience, and suitability for the role.
Desirable
- Experience in community fieldwork.
- Knowledge of mental health, alcohol dependency, suicide prevention, or neurodiversity.
- Experience working with rural communities, schools, NGOs, or special populations.
