Research Assistant– Microbiology & Bioprocessing (Plant Nutrition & Biofertilizers)

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled professional to support our R&D and product development initiatives in plant nutrition, biofertilizers, and biological inputs. The candidate will be responsible for microbial screening, identification, bioprocessing, nutrient analysis, extraction processes, nanomaterial characterization, and data analysis, while working closely with the product development and regulatory teams.
Key Responsibilities
Microbiology & Bioprocessing
- Maintenance of beneficial microorganisms (bacteria, fungi, mycorrhizae) relevant to plant nutrition.
- Design and execution of fermentation and bioprocessing experiments (shake flask and bioreactor level).
- Optimization of culture media, growth conditions, and process parameters for scale-up.
Product Development Support
- Assist in development and optimization of plant nutrition formulations
- Support stability studies, compatibility testing, and shelf-life evaluation.
- Work collaboratively with formulation, regulatory, and production teams.
Chemistry, Extraction & Nutrient Analysis
- Perform chemical extractions (plant-based, microbial, mineral or organic sources).
- Conduct nutrient quantification and analysis including macro- and micronutrients using standard laboratory techniques (UV–Vis, titration).
- Basic understanding of organic and inorganic chemistry relevant to plant nutrition products.
Nanotechnology & Characterization
- Support synthesis
- Perform characterization of nano/micro materials using techniques such as DLS, zeta potential, particle size analysis, SEM/TEM (knowledge or hands-on experience preferred).
- Ensure safe handling and documentation of nanomaterials.
Data Management, Analysis & Documentation
- Maintain accurate lab records, SOPs, technical reports, and internal documentation.
Qualifications
Education
- MSc / MTech in Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Agricultural Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Nanotechnology, or a related discipline.
Experience
- 1–2years of relevant laboratory experience in microbiology, bioprocessing, plant nutrition, or biofertilizer R&D (flexible based on role level).
- Hands-on experience in microbial culture handling and laboratory experimentation is essential.
Technical Skills (Required / Preferred)
- Strong fundamentals in microbiology and bioprocessing
- Working knowledge of chemistry and extraction techniques
- Familiarity with nutrient estimation and analytical methods
- Understanding of nanotechnology characterization tools
- Proficiency in data compilation, analysis, and basic statistics
- Experience with MS Excel, scientific software, or statistical tools is an advantage
