Job Purpose
To lead R&D for encapsulated ingredients, coated particles, and technology-based food and nutraceutical solutions, with focus on new product development, product improvement, and scale-up to commercial production.
Reports to: CTO or R&D Head
Principal Responsibilities
- Develop and optimize food & nutraceutical ingredients using technologies such as fluid bed coating, extrusion & spheronisation, roto processing, and allied process technologies
- Work on encapsulation, flavour coating, controlled release, taste masking, stability improvement, and ingredient performance enhancement.
- Track market trends, recommend new technologies and develop innovative products as per market requirements and customer needs.
- Develop and optimize formulations, prototypes, process parameters, and product trials as per customer and market requirements.
- Lead client discussions to understand requirements, explain technical possibilities and address queries.
- Coordinate lab trials, pilot batches, scale-up, and technology transfer to production.
- Support customer projects through technical discussions, feasibility trials, samples, and documentation.
- Work closely with Production, QA, QC, Sales, and Management for troubleshooting, commercialization, and product development and improvement.
- Maintain R&D records, trial reports, formulation data, process documents, and ensure compliance with quality and customer requirements.
Education: Postgraduate or PhD in Food Technology, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, or a related discipline.
Experience:
5–10 years of relevant experience in R&D, product development, formulation, encapsulation, coating, food ingredients, nutraceuticals, flavours, or specialty ingredients.
Experience in new product development, scale-up, customer-specific product development, and technology transfer will be preferred.
Knowledge:
- Encapsulation, coating, granulation, pellets, and controlled-release technologies
- Stability, shelf-life, taste masking, and release profile improvement
- Quality norms, documentation, regulatory, and customer compliance requirements
