What would you do in this role?
You will play a vital role in supporting patients and their families throughout the surgical experience. You’ll serve as a compassionate point of contact, helping to alleviate stress and provide updates during the perioperative period. By tracking each patient's surgical journey, you’ll ensure that families are informed and reassured every step of the way. You’ll closely observe patient conditions, promptly communicating any changes or concerns to the assigned nurse or supervisor to maintain high standards of care. You’ll help maintain a smooth and efficient care environment by restocking supplies and ensuring equipment is ready and available. This is a hands-on, patient-centered role that truly makes a difference.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a personal contact, provide support and help to alleviate stress for families of surgical patients during the perioperative period;
- Track the patient’s surgical journey and alert patient’s family of their status as applicable;
- Observe patient’s condition and immediately communicate changes or concerns to the assigned RN or a supervisor;
- Assist in transferring patients from bed to stretcher and vice versa as needed;
- Follow emergency procedures including use of CPR if necessary;
- Escort patients out of the building following discharge;
- Stock department equipment and supplies.
