SUMMARY DESCRIPTION: The Business Development Operations Manager drives operational excellence and business growth by turning data into decisions and strategy into action. Sitting at the intersection of analytics, operations, and business development, this role owns the metrics that matter, designs the processes that scale, and partners across the organization to identify and capture new revenue opportunities. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable in a spreadsheet and a strategy meeting — someone who builds systems, not just reports.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Own operational analytics end-to-end: define what to measure, build the infrastructure to capture it, and translate findings into concrete recommendations for leadership.
- Design and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations that give operational and executive stakeholders a clear, real-time view of business performance — and make the “so what” obvious.
- Establish and manage a KPI framework in partnership with Operations leadership — setting targets, tracking progress, surfacing risks, and driving accountability across teams.
- Lead business development initiatives across the full lifecycle — from market and opportunity analysis through go-to-market planning — for both existing business lines and net-new ventures.
- Identify operational gaps and design scalable processes, workflows, and SOPs that improve efficiency, reduce friction, and support growth.
- Serve as an embedded business partner to cross-functional leaders — aligning on priorities, removing operational blockers, and co-executing on growth and development objectives.
- Manage vendor and third-party relationships in support of new platform integrations, evaluating fit, coordinating implementation, and holding partners accountable to outcomes.
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree a plus.
- 3–6 years of experience in business operations, strategy, analytics, or a related role — with a track record of driving measurable outcomes, not just producing reports.
- Advanced proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent); strong working knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets; SQL experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience supporting or leading business development activities — including opportunity sizing, competitive analysis, proposal development, or partnership management.
- Proven ability to build and improve operational processes — you can map a workflow, spot the bottleneck, and implement a fix that actually sticks.
- Strong communicator and storyteller — able to distill complex data and operational findings into clear narratives for senior leaders and non-technical audiences alike.
- Self-directed and highly organized, with a track record of managing multiple priorities simultaneously and delivering results in ambiguous or fast-changing environments.
- Comfort leveraging AI and automation tools to increase productivity and analytical capability; experience with platforms such as Claude, ChatGPT, or similar tools is a plus.
- Background in insurance, claims operations, or related industry is a plus.
