About The Company
Turing is a rapidly expanding leader in the artificial intelligence industry, dedicated to advancing and deploying cutting-edge AI systems. With a focus on innovative research and practical applications, Turing aims to shape the future of AI-driven technology. The company prides itself on fostering a collaborative environment where talented professionals can contribute to groundbreaking projects that have a meaningful impact on the tech ecosystem. As part of its mission, Turing continuously seeks to push the boundaries of what AI can achieve, especially in the realm of software engineering and intelligent automation.
About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our team working on a pioneering project focused on building large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. The primary goal is to develop datasets that enable LLMs to effectively address realistic software engineering problems. This involves creating verifiable software engineering tasks based on public repository histories, utilizing a synthetic approach with human-in-the-loop validation. The role requires hands-on involvement in software engineering tasks such as automating development environments, triaging issues, and assessing test coverage and quality. Candidates will have the opportunity to work at the intersection of software engineering and AI research, influencing the future landscape of AI-assisted coding and development tools.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong background in JavaScript and TypeScript. Proficiency with version control systems like Git, containerization tools such as Docker, and experience setting up and managing software pipelines are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand, navigate, and modify complex codebases, and be comfortable running and testing real-world projects locally. Experience working with or evaluating open-source projects is considered a plus. Additionally, familiarity with AI research projects, especially related to LLMs, and experience developing developer tools or automation agents will be advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues across trending open-source repositories on GitHub.
- Set up and configure development environments, including Dockerization and environment automation.
- Evaluate unit test coverage and assess the quality of codebases.
- Modify, run, and test codebases locally to evaluate LLM performance in bug-fixing scenarios.
- Collaborate with research teams to identify repositories and issues that challenge LLMs, contributing to dataset creation and validation.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering collaborative teamwork on project deliverables.
- Participate in continuous improvement of workflows and automation processes to enhance project efficiency.
Benefits
Joining Turing offers the flexibility of working in a fully remote environment, allowing you to balance your professional and personal life effectively. You will have the opportunity to work on innovative AI projects alongside leading LLM companies, gaining exposure to the latest advancements in artificial intelligence and software engineering. Turing also provides a dynamic and inclusive work culture that encourages growth, learning, and contribution to impactful projects. As a contractor, you will benefit from flexible work hours, with options to commit to 20, 30, or 40 hours per week, ensuring adaptability to your schedule. Additionally, you will be part of a global talent network, opening doors to future opportunities and collaborations within the AI industry.
