Renowned for its innovative approach, Turing specializes in developing cutting-edge AI systems that transform industries and improve everyday life. The company's mission is to empower organizations worldwide by providing them with scalable, reliable, and intelligent software solutions. With a focus on research and development, Turing fosters a collaborative environment where talented professionals can contribute to groundbreaking projects that shape the future of AI technology. The company's commitment to excellence and innovation has positioned it as a pioneer in the AI space, attracting top-tier talent and strategic partners globally.
About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our dynamic team working on large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role is integral to our project aimed at building verifiable software engineering tasks based on public repository histories, incorporating human-in-the-loop methodologies. As a key member of the team, you will leverage your expertise in software development, environment automation, and code analysis to contribute to creating datasets that help train LLMs to handle realistic software engineering problems. Your responsibilities will include working with open-source repositories, triaging issues, evaluating test coverage, and collaborating with researchers to identify challenging tasks for LLMs. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of AI-assisted software development while working on innovative projects that push the boundaries of current technology.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of three years of professional experience in software engineering, with a strong background in at least one programming language such as Rust. Proficiency with version control systems like Git, containerization tools such as Docker, and experience setting up and maintaining software pipelines are essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to understand and navigate complex codebases, modify and run real-world projects locally, and contribute to open-source projects or evaluate their quality. Additional experience in AI research, LLM evaluation, or automation tools will be considered a plus. Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and excellent collaboration abilities are vital for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage issues across trending open-source repositories on GitHub to identify relevant and challenging tasks for LLM training.
- Set up and configure development environments, including Dockerization and dependency management, to facilitate efficient testing and evaluation.
- Assess and improve unit test coverage and quality within repositories to ensure robustness and reliability.
- Modify, run, and debug codebases locally to evaluate LLM performance in bug-fixing and code understanding scenarios.
- Collaborate closely with research teams to design and select repositories and issues that effectively challenge LLMs and advance dataset quality.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring project milestones are met efficiently.
Benefits
Joining Turing provides the opportunity to work remotely in a flexible environment, allowing you to balance your professional and personal life effectively. You will be part of a forward-thinking organization at the forefront of AI research, gaining exposure to cutting-edge projects with leading LLM companies. Turing offers a collaborative and innovative work culture that encourages continuous learning and professional growth. Additionally, you will have access to a global network of talented professionals, participate in impactful projects, and contribute to advancements that influence the future of AI technology. The company values diversity and inclusion, fostering an environment where all team members can thrive and make meaningful contributions.
