About The Role
We are seeking experienced software engineers at the tech lead level to join our innovative project focused on building large language model (LLM) evaluation and training datasets. This role involves engaging directly with high-quality public GitHub repositories, contributing to the development of verifiable software engineering tasks based on real-world repository histories. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, particularly in automation, issue triaging, and code quality assessment. Your hands-on work will support the creation of datasets that enable LLMs to better understand and solve realistic software engineering challenges, including tasks across various programming languages and difficulty levels.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of working with complex codebases and open-source projects. Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages is essential: Rust, Python, or JavaScript. Strong familiarity with version control systems, especially Git, as well as containerization tools like Docker, is required. Candidates should possess the ability to set up and automate development environments, analyze and triage issues, and evaluate code quality effectively. Experience contributing to open-source projects or participating in LLM research and evaluation initiatives is a plus, as is familiarity with software pipelines and automation tools.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and triage GitHub issues across trending open-source libraries to identify challenging tasks for LLM evaluation.
- Set up and configure code repositories, including Dockerization and environment setup, to facilitate testing and development.
- Evaluate unit test coverage, quality, and effectiveness in real-world projects.
- Modify and run codebases locally to assess the performance of LLMs in bug-fixing and code understanding scenarios.
- Collaborate with research teams to design and identify repositories and issues that present significant challenges for LLMs, contributing to dataset creation.
- Lead and mentor junior engineers, fostering a collaborative environment and ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Participate in continuous improvement of development workflows and automation processes to enhance project efficiency.
