Company Description
Metal City Fab is a US-based metal fabrication company specializing in standardized product lines and custom design-build ornamental metals, railings, and structural steel components. We are looking for a skilled Project Engineer to join our team remotely and take ownership of engineering design, analysis, and code compliance across our full range of projects.
Role Description
• Develop and manage 3D models, assemblies, and fabrication-ready drawings in SolidWorks for standardized products and custom design-build projects
• Perform structural load analysis and FEA using SolidWorks Simulation to validate designs
• Research and apply applicable US building codes (IBC, AISC 360), welding codes (AWS D1.1), and ADA accessibility standards to all designs
• Ensure ADA compliance for railings, guards, handrail assemblies, and all applicable ornamental metal installations
• Produce shop drawings and detailed fabrication packages in both SolidWorks and AutoCAD
• Generate accurate cut lists, material takeoffs, and complete shop material lists for each project to support procurement and fabrication workflow
• Coordinate with the fabrication team to ensure designs are practical, buildable, and cost-effective
• Manage revisions, BOMs, and drawing packages with clear version control
Qualifications
• 5+ years of experience in structural or mechanical engineering with a focus on metals and fabrication
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks (modeling, assemblies, drawings, and Simulation/FEA)
• Working proficiency in AutoCAD
• Knowledge of ADA accessibility requirements for handrails, guards, and architectural metal assemblies
• Experience with or willingness to learn US building codes (IBC), structural steel standards (AISC), and welding codes (AWS D1.1)
• Strong understanding of steel, aluminum, and stainless steel material properties
• Excellent English communication skills, written and verbal
